Questions That Matter to You

What Happens in Couples Therapy

If you have never been to couples therapy, it is natural to wonder what actually happens in the room.

A conversation with three people

Couples sessions usually involve both partners talking about what brought them in, with Rebecca helping the conversation stay open and honest. Each partner has space to speak and to be heard.

Understanding the pattern between you

Much of the work involves noticing the cycle that plays out between partners: how one person's reaction sets off the other's. Seeing that cycle clearly can reduce blame and open new possibilities.

Each person's history

Rebecca's approach also makes room for what each partner brings from earlier relationships and family life. Those histories often help explain why certain moments feel so intense.

Practical questions

Session length, frequency, and fees for couples work can be discussed directly. A free 15-minute consultation is a place to ask about fit and practical arrangements. Onboarding happens only after you both agree to try working together.

Frequently asked questions

Will we have homework?
The work is primarily conversational. You can ask Rebecca how she structures couples sessions.
What if one partner talks more than the other?
Rebecca works to make room for both partners. It is fine to raise this if it happens.
