Questions That Matter to You

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy looks at how feelings, relationships, and past experiences shape what is happening in your life now.

What the term means

Psychodynamic therapy is a family of approaches that grew out of psychoanalytic ideas. It pays attention to feelings that are hard to notice, patterns that repeat, and the ways earlier relationships can influence present ones.

What sessions are like

Sessions are conversational. You talk about what is on your mind, and Rebecca listens for themes, connections, and feelings that may not be immediately obvious. Over time, the conversation can make sense of reactions that once felt confusing.

An honest description

This page explains the approach. It does not claim that psychodynamic therapy is better than other forms of therapy or that it will produce a specific result for you. People benefit from different approaches, and fit matters.

Asking questions

You are welcome to ask Rebecca how she works, how often clients meet, and how progress is discussed. A free 15-minute consultation is a place to ask about fit and practical arrangements. Onboarding happens only after you both agree to try working together.

Frequently asked questions

Is psychodynamic therapy the same as psychoanalysis?
They are related. Psychoanalysis is usually more intensive. The comparison page explains the differences in more detail.
Do I have to lie on a couch?
No. Most psychodynamic therapy takes place sitting and talking face to face.
